(not sure if deceased-will update)Archie Lester Ruble, 86, New Point, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, at Aspen Place Health Campus, Greensburg.

The son of Joseph and Stella (Blair) Ruble was born Feb. 2, 1928, in New Point.

Like many boys of that era, Archie lied about his age to enlist in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. After the war, Archie married Wanda May Pursley in Greensburg June 30, 1951. He worked at Union Furniture Co., Batesville, for many years, retiring in 1991. He then went to work for New Point Products, which he enjoyed very much, retiring from there Dec. 31, 2012.

Archie was a New Point man through and through. He coached Little League Baseball, umpired baseball, was a volunteer fireman at the New Point Fire Department for many years and built the backdrop of the Nativity scene at New Point Christian Church, of which he was a member. Archie loved almost all sports, but was an avid Cincinnati Reds and IU fan. He was a very caring and kind person, doing almost anything for almost anyone. He was well respected in his community and will be missed by his many friends and family very much.

Archie is survived by his two sons: Thomas (Mary Beth) Ruble, Greensburg, and Ernest (Ann) Ruble, Columbus; four daughters: Rebecca (Randy) Schebler, Batesville, Stella (Ronald) Pyles, Sardinia, Sandra (Gary) Hamer, Greensburg, and Nelrose (Michael) Price, Greensburg; along with his sister Nelrose Cook, Greensburg; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; sister Vivian Allen-Folson; and brothers John R., Jerry, Joseph Jr., James, Calvin and Lowell Ruble.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8, from 5-8 p.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Meyers Funeral Home, 1150 State Road 46 E., Batesville, with the Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at the Rossburg Cemetery, New Point.

Memorials may be given in his memory to Our Hospice.
