Sandy resident Glen LaMar Fertig, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 7.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mount Scott Blvd., Portland. A gathering for family and friends will follow the service.
Glen was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Kennedy, Minn., to Jacob and Sena (Haugen) Fertig on their family farm.
On April 3, 1969, he married Patricia Agnes Burke. At the time of their marriage, Glen and Patricia each had grown children from previous marriages. They resided in Eagle Creek before moving to Cascadia Village in Sandy.
Glen worked for Park Lumber Co., which was acquired by Crown-Zellerbach, as a lead millwright for almost 40 years. He liked going fishing and playing golf and card games.
He was preceded in death by his wife on June 4, 2010; two sisters; four brothers; and by his great-grandson, Joe Cook.
Survivors include his daughters, Laurel Garrison of Estacada, Rebecca Brown of Estacada, Jamie Ellam of Troutdale and Kerry Abeln of Estacada; stepsons, Clifford Cook of Vale and Daniel Cook of Oregon City; stepdaughter, Barbara Linn of Sandy; brother, Keith Fertig of Nevada; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations can be made to Odyssey Hospice, 8625 S.W. Cascade Ave., Suite 500, Beaverton, 97008.
Cornerstone Funeral Services & Cremation is handling arrangements.
