WINCHESTER, Va.-Martin Luther "Marty" Boppe, 78, of 300 Westminster Cantebury Drive, Apt. 315, died Friday, May 6, at his home.
Born Oct. 29, 1915, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Martin Luther Boppe Sr. and Virginia Jacobs Boppe.
He retired in 1977 as manager of Charles W. Karper Trucking Co. in Chambersburg, Pa., where he was employed for 36 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winchester. He had served as a church trustee and a deacon. He was a member of the church executive board and the Men's Bible Class.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Long, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1936; two son, M. Lee Boppe of Winchester and Larry E. Boppe of Charlotte, N. C.; four sisters, Mary Weist of Chambersburg, Annie McLucas of Welch Run, Pa., Lula Murphy of Hagerstown, and Pearl Keeler of Maugansville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, David Boppe.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Winchester. Drexel Rayford and the Rev. Warren Boling will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Omps Funeral Home, 1600 Amherst St., Winchester, today from 7 to 9 p.m.
