his parents died in 1911 and 1912. There was a flu epidemic and the surviving children ended up with friends/relatives. Arthur was an orphin by age 14.

His World War Draft Registration Dated Sept 12, 1918 he is now 22 years old. Record states he has blue eyes and brown hair and that he works for Fay Hamilton on a farm. He signs his name Arthur Sidney Barrett and lists his brother Orville Barrett as nearest relative... living in Dot, Washington. (this brother's full name is Clarence Orville Barrett)
