Carl Clarence Cottrell was the son of George Gardner Cottrell and Lydia Ann Naramore.
Born in 1867 Rushford, Winnebago County, Wisconsin, his parents settled in Poy Sippi, Waushara County, Wisconsin by 1870 and stayed there several years.
Carl married Myrtle Ida Cady, the daughter of Benjamin Albert Cady and Julia Ann Shepard, in Poy Sippi, on June 22, 1890.
The couple remained in Poy Sippi the rest of their lives.

Forrest Paul Cottrell 1907, married Margaret H Summerton, lived in Oxford, Marquette County, Wisconsin, four children.
Sterling Willet Cottrell 1909, married Dorothy Henke, four children. Lived in Clintonville, Wisconsin, then Poy Sippi Wisconsin. After Sterling's death in 1946, Dorothy moved to Oxford, Marquette, Wisconsin.
Iva Lillian Cottrell 1916, married Robert Linden, lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
