Son of Son of Jonathan and Mary Ann, Husband of Mary, 58y 5d.

Abridged biography from Vol I of the David Family Scrapbook by Bruce David, pages 33-37:

When he was four years old, his mother died at Clarks Mills, PA, and at the age of eight, he was left an orphan when his father died at Linesville, PA. He was raised then by Mr. and Mrs. William Edwin Seelye on their farm one mile east of Linesville, where he worked until his marriage at the age of thirty-two.

He then bought a small home on the next road East. He accepted an offer to operate a farm owned by Ambrose Bennett, on the Limber about five miles north of Meadville. Two years later he operated Edgar Huidekoper's large dairy farm at the "Red Barn" just beyond the limits of Fredricksburg. Here he lived for thirteen years, until the timber was cut off and the farm sold in 1906.

In 1906 he moved to a new house built for him opposite the "Brick Store" in Fredericksburg.

He worked in the carpentry shop for the Erie Railroad, machine shop for McCroskey Reamer Co, at the Hookless Fastener Co., and at a gas station.

In 1924 he purchased 10 acres of the Huidekoper Farm just beyond the "red Barn". He took great pleasure in walking the 1/2 mile from home, trundling a wheelbarrow. He tended the woodland like a park, but preserved every plant in it's natural environment.

Charles died at the home of his niece, Ms. Artie Cooper, at New Lebanon PA, where she cared for him during his illness.
