Per the David Family Scrapbook:

Eldest child of Jonathan German David and Catherine Gans. Born Dec 31, 1820 in Fayette Co. PA, and died Apr. 30, 1878, at Saegertown PA. He was buried in the Saegertown Cemetery, which he was instrumental in organizing in 1860.
He came to Crawford Co. with his parents when he was seven years old. In his youth he worked with his father in the mill at Saegertown. At the age of eighteen, he went to Pittsburgh, PA, where he served a four year apprenticeship as a wagonmaker, was married, and returned to Saegertwon to
establish his own shop. He was elected to the Legislature of Pennsylvania in 1849, and a Crawford County Commissioner in 1865. During his term as commissioner, he supervised the erection of a new courthouse at Meadville, his name appearing on the cornerstone. He also served a long term of years as County Clerk and Justice of the Peace.
Benjamin Gans David was married first on June 16, 1842 at Laughlintown PA to Martha Louther, a daughter of William Louther. She was born Dec 22,1821, in Westmoreland Co. PA, and died Sept 25, 1879, at Saegertown.
They had four children, born at Saegertown, PA:
A boy, unnamed, died at birth, 1843.
A boy, unnamed, lived one day, 1844.

Benjamin Gans David married second, June 2, 1850 at Saegertown, PA Martha Emery, the daughter of John Emery and Mary Aaron. She was born Mar 2,1819, at Philadelphia PA, and died Nov 2, 1909, at St. Petersburg, FL, and was buried there. Two children were born at Saegertwon, PA:
