George Helms Jr., 83, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1993, in his home after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial: St. Albert's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church, where a Scripture service begins at 7:30 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Monday at Fawcett Funeral Home, Lamont.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three sons, Russell of Cedar Rapids, Darwin of Diamond Head, Miss., and Chip of Hiawatha; five daughters, Marilyn Klaren of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Georgia Koch of Atlanta, Dawn Kendrick of Marion, Beverlee Stevenson of Pittsburg, Calif., and Jolayne Nolda of Waterford, Conn.; two brothers, Albert of Sioux City and Bernard of Lamont; and five sisters, Della Rule of Dundee, Lillian Wessels and Frieda Dozark, both of Lamont, Margaret Stiele of Central City and Mildred Cree of Waterloo.
Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 10 stepgrandchildren.
