Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon for Glenn W. Fuchs, a prominent young rancher of the Del Norte district.
He died Friday morning at St. Luke’s Hospital, Denver, after major surgery following an accident two weeks ago on the Pine River.
While working on a water diversion project on the Pine down the Weminuche, he was thrown from a horse and sustained broken vertebrae.
Mr. Fuchs was born at Creede, Colorado October 31, 1905, the son of Annie and George Fuchs. At the age of seven months the family moved to the Bear Creek ranch which was home for seven years. The family later moved to the Myers Creek place. Mrs. George Fuchs passed away February 14, 1920. Glenn worked with his father in farm operations until he was 20.
He attended both the Granger and Del Norte schools. He spent a year or more when a youth traveling in California and the Northwest. At the age of 21 he signed with an ocean freight company at New Orleans and made several trips to Europe. In the early 1930s he returned to Del Norte and continued farming for himself and associated with his father.
He was married September 2, 1939 to Miss Goldie Cooper. To this union were born one son, Tommy Glenn, and two daughters, Shirley Ann and Charlotte.
During the past 13 years Glenn proved himself an excellent farmer and rancher and he was a tireless worker.
Besides his family, he is survived by his father and three brothers, Harley, Leland, and Edwin.
Rev Emmons Ringle officiated at the services here Wednesday. Interment was in the Del Norte cemetery.
Pall bearers were Carl Bauer, Ross Davie, Jr., Lee Ryan, Barnett Bauer, Oscar Paulson, and Hardy Long.
