CONCORD -- Floretta Alexander Foster, 93, formerly of 2900 Shady Lane, and more recently of Five Oaks, died Friday (Aug. 29, 2003) at NorthEast Medical Center after three years of declining health and one week of serious illness.
Born Nov. 22, 1909, in Cabarrus County, Floretta was the daughter of the late John Hasting and Maggie White Alexander. She was a graduate student of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, North Carolina. She retired as head nurse at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital in 1971 and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, in Kannapolis where she sang in the church choir and was active in many church activities. She was a volunteer with Cabarrus County's Meals on Wheels program for many years. She was a lifetime resident of the Concord/Kannapolis area.
Husband Millard Taylor Foster died May 8, 1995.
Survivors include sons Ronald C. Foster, Kannapolis, and Kenneth J. Foster, Raleigh; brother Tom Alexander, Concord; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday (31 August 2003) at First Baptist Church, Kannapolis, conducted by Dr. Thomas E. Cabaniss. Burial at Carolina Memorial Park.
