He was born July 1, 1919, in Cabarrus County, the son of the late John H. and Maggie White Alexander.
He retired from Cannon Mills Company, Plant #1 Instrument Department, after working for 50 years. He was a member of Kannapolis Church of God. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #115 and the VFW Post #8989.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vencie Nichols Alexander, on Dec. 9, 2010; a sister, Floretta A. Foster, and two brothers, John and Charles Alexander.
He is survived by two daughters, Charleen Alexander Gobble and Terry Alexander.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Barbara Watkins. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Plaza Mausoleum with military honors by the Cabarrus Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
