Son of Mary Knott & Jesse Hendrix

"Henry W. Hendrix died Tuesday evening at 6 o'clock at his home west of New London, after a long illness. Aged 96 years, 2 months and 7 days. Henry W. Hendrix was born December 27, 1827, in Wayne County, Indiana, near Indianapolis. He spent his early life in that state, where he was married to Miss Sarah Wingfield. To this union were born fourteen children, two of whom died in infancy. Two more - Charley and Jesse - preceded their father to the grave several years. The mother died seventeen years ago. In October, 1865, Mr. Hendrix came with his family to Missouri, settling in Ralls County. In March, 1866, he bought the farm on which he died. He had lived there continuously since March, 1866, until his death. Uncle Henry, as he was called, was a good citizen, holding the esteem and confidence of all with whom he came in contact. He was a member of the Cross Roads Methodist Church and died in the faith of his Master. Surviving him are ten children - Albert, Mrs. Angeline Dilts, Mrs. Maria Harkins, John, Mrs. Martha Claypool, Mrs. Kate Dunn, Mack, Miss Bettie, Mrs. Laura Roland, and Levi. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the chapel in Barkley Cemetery, conducted by Rev. R. Alex Jones. Interment will be in that cemetery. Friends of the family are invited to attend."
