Funeral for Billy Ray Sparkman, 73, of Northport will be today, April 10, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy VanLandingham officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Sparkman died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. He was born Dec. 16, 1930, in Decatur to Tennis Sparkman and Annis Wallace Sparkman. He was retired from the postal service. He was a member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church. Mr. Sparkman was preceded in death by one son, Michael Sparkman; one brother, James W. "Chick" Sparkman; and three sisters, Cleo Reeder, Margaret Pressnell and Rena Martin.
Survivors include one daughter, Martha Lyn Coston and husband Frank of Arab; two sisters, Ruth Butler and Mildred Stephenson, both of Decatur; one sister-in-law, Harriett Sparkman of Decatur; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to your favorite charity.
