Funeral for Ruth Sparkman Butler, 96, of Decatur will be Monday, June 23, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Baskins and the Rev. Jeff Sellers officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Butler, who died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital, was born March 20, 1912, in Austinville to Tennis Sparkman and Annis Wallace Sparkman.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church, Kizziah Sunday school class, United Methodist Women, the 39+ Club, and was a member of The Chancel Choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Butler, four sisters, Rena Martin, Cleo Reeder, Mildred Stephenson and Margaret Pressnell, and two brothers, James "Chick" Sparkman and Bill Sparkman.

Mrs. Butler is survived by one daughter, Ann Butler of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ray Stephenson, Stewart Stephenson, Daniel Aycock, Hamil Martin, Donnie Reeder, John Reeder, Jim Hester and Will Hester.

Memorials may be made to Ninth Street United Methodist Church.
