Salt Lake Tribune, July 20, 1996)ly 20, 1996, Page: B5. OGDEN--Lyle Leland Gaskill, 77, died Thursday, July 18, 1996 at his home. He was born November 12, 1918 in Fairfield, Idaho, a son of Perry L. and Florence I. Peck Gaskill. He married Edna Ridges on January 14, 1950 in Salt Lake City. Lyle was raised in Fairfield, Idaho and lived there until 1941. At that time he went to Las Vegas to work as a telegrapher until he was called to military service during World War II. He served in the U.S. Army under General George Patton during the liberation of Germany.

After the war, Lyle began a career in casualty insurance which remained his life's work. He became president of the Gaskill Insurance Agency in Ogden. He was a member and past president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Utah and a board member of the National Association of Insurance Agents. He had served as past president of the Ogden Salvation Army, the United Way, the Weber Club and the Ogden Rotary Club; he was also a Paul Harris Fellow. He was past treasurer of the Ogden Champer of Commerce and Chairman of the Chamber's Military Affairs Committee. He was a board member of the Ogden Children's Aid Society and a volunteer for the Small Business Association. He was a member of the Ogden Golf and Country Club, the Masonic Blue Lodge and the Consistory.

Surviving are his wife of Ogden; three daughters, Karen (Gary) Nielsen, Riverdale; Susan Gaskill, Dallas, Texas; Judy (Shane) Armstrong, Logan; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving: three brothers and two sisters, John L. Gaskill and Charles P. Gaskill, both of Fairfield, Idaho; Robert G. Gaskill, Shoshone, Idaho; Nellie L. Hollenbeck, Fairfield, Idaho; Dolly Fessenden, Boise, Idaho. Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mae Ballard.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., where friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Paul Harris Foundation, c/o Ogden Rotary Club or another charity of choice.
