Peter was born Pieter Aleman on June 27th, 1850, son of Pieter Aleman (1811-1850) and Jannetje den Bleijker (1820-1903). His father had died May 11th, 1850, so just a month before his son Pieter was born. His mother Jannetje went to the US in March 1876 and took her children with her.
