This is a difficult one. Martha was born Maartje den Bleijker on June 22d, 1857 on the Texel island in the province of Noord-Holland. She was an illigimate daughter of Jannetje den Bleijker (1820-1903 [ID 25755316]). Her mother first married Pieter Aleman (1811-1850) en then married Theunis Roest. Maartje (Martha) went with her mother and her stepbrothers to the US in March 1876. In America Martha took the name Alman, probably because her mother had took that name in America. It was the name of Pieter sr. who had died seven years before she was born. Contributor: Hans Stal
