CANADIAN - The Rev. Albert Christian, 75, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Terry Pugh, District Superintendent, Texico District of United Pentecostal Church International, and the Rev. Rex Johnson, pastor of Christian Life Church in Austin, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors.

Mr. Christian was born and raised in Dalhart. He served in the Navy during World War II and participated in the invasions of Iwo Jima, Luzon and Okinawa. He married Mary Christian on Jan. 23, 1954, at Dalhart. He had been licensed with the United Pentecostal Church International since 1958 and was pastor of Canadian Pentecostal Church for 41 years. He was a master plumber and owner of Al's Plumbing.

Survivors include three sons, Paul Christian of Owasso, Okla., the Rev. Mark Christian of St. Louis and Joe Christian of Austin; a brother, Ira Christian of Woweka, Okla.; a sister, Loretta Snyder of Nara Visa, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

The family suggests memorials be to New York Disaster Relief Fund c/o United Pentecostal Church International, 8855 Dunn Rd., Hazelwood, MO 63042.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and the body will be available for viewing at First Christian Church from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday.
