JEFFERS, MARLEY Died 14 Apr 1974

Marley (Sarge) Jeffers, 51 of Oneida, passed away in the Veterans Hospital in Nashville, Sunday April 14. He was the son of the late Felin Jeffers and the late Dessie Sexton Jeffers, a veteran of W. W. II. Survivors, wife, Chelsie Harness Jeffers of Oneida, sister, Mrs. Bertha McGee of Gadis, Ohio, five half sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Harness of Rt. 1, Huntsville, Mrs. Martha Paul of Oneida, Mrs. Ella Patton of Rt. 1, Norma, Mrs. Dorothy Wilson of Rt. 1, Caryville, Mrs. Amy Stephens of Pigeon Forge, four half brothers, Herbert Newport of Oak Ridge, Leon Newport of Dayton, Ohio, Arnold Newport of Basper, Arlie Jeffers of Columbus, Ohio. Funeral services were conducted from the West Funeral Home Chapel 11 a.m. Wednesday April 17, with Rev. Charlie Duncan officiating. Burial in the Byrges Creek Cemetery. American Legion Post 136 served as pallbearers and were in charge of Military Honors at graveside. West Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. (Source: The Scott County News, 18 Apr 1974, p5)
