Mrs. Sawyer Dies At 77 Downstate
Canton--Lucina Sawyer, 77, widow of Merton Sawyer died Friday (Dec 21, 1962) at the Baldwin Sanitorium, Baldwinsville, NY where she had been a patient for about a year.
Funeral arrangements are by the E. E. O'Leary Funeral Home of Canton, where friends may call at their convenience. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. today, with the Rev. Lloyd Moffet, pastor of the Canton Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Canton.
Surviving are a son, Lynn Pelkey, a daughter, Mrs. Lorna Sheppard, both of Baldwinsville, a sister Mrs. Dora Pelkey of Canton, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Sawyer was born in Hopkinton on April 27, 1885, the daughter of the late Willard and Ella Durkee Castle. She was twice married. Her first husband, whom she married in 1913, was Wilber Pelkey. Mr. Pelkey died in 1931. In 1932 she was married to Merton Sawyer, who died in 1957. Mrs. Sawyer was a life-long Canton area resident until 5 years ago when she moved to Baldwinsville.
Note: She was married first, 8 Jun 1902, to Merriman Castle and they divorced 5 Sep 1903 in Canton, NY. She married second, 20 Jun 1904, Hosea Drake and they also divorced. She married third, 25 Dec 1913 in Pierrepont, NY, to Wilbur Pelkey. They remained married until his death in 1931. She married fourth, 7 May 1932, Merton Sawyer and they remained married until his death in 1957.
