Cathryn F. Matthews-Black, 100, formerly of 57 Derrick Road, was a daughter of the late Arthur and Julia (Dunn) Francis.
On February 8, 1931 in Bradford she married James Matthews who died May 11, 1963, then on December 30, 1986 she married James Black who died May 26, 2008.
Mrs. Black was a 1927 graduate of Bradford High School. She had attended the Buffalo School of Nursing. She had worked at Aleci Jewelers and then for Reed's Jewelers
She was a member of St. Bernard Church, and attended the First United Methodist Church with her second husband for over twenty years. She was a member of the Triangle Club, Current Events Club, She volunteered for the American Red Cross Meals on Wheels Program and she rang the Christmas Bells for the Salvation Army for many years.
Surviving are three daughters, Julia (Sam) Krieg, Marcia Grove (Bob) Pfouts and Gayle (Tom) Kochan, a son, James (Kay) Matthews, 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special friend Beverly Rice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husband, a daughter Sara "Sally" Campbell, four sisters and four brothers.
Burial in St. Bernard Cemetery.
