He has 10 siblings, Hattie, Julie, Emma, Mittie, Thomas Jefferson (little Tom), Barney, Claudie, Ruth, Ophelia and Bertsiemae, a young girl who died young.
He farmed in Mississippi until WWII at which time he moved with his family to Detroit where he worked for Woodall Corp.
After the War he returned to Mississippi for a couple of years but the economy was very bad.
It was his decision that if his children were to have a chance at a better life, he would need to return north. So once again he packed up family and moved to a suburb of Detroit in Van Dyke Township.
He worked for 22 years for Ford Motor Company.
After retirement, and a particularly bad winter, he sold his snow blower and returned to Mississippi where he could hunt, fish and visit family to his heart's content.
He was an avid gardener, hunter and lover of baseball and all sports. He loved his family and spent much time with his siblings and their families.
He also loved to visit his children and would have been so proud of his grands and great grands. He loved family so very much.
He never said goodbye without adding "I love you."
