Joel Angen was born June 14, 1896, on a farm near Garfield, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Olaus Angen. He grew to manhood on the home farm and following his marriage to May Engen on Jan. 8, 1921, they moved to a farm near Brandon which has since been the family home.
Mr. Angen was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Otto Juul and confirmed by Rev. Martin Juul. He was a member of the East Moe Lutheran church until eight years ago when they bought a farm north of Brandon and he transferred his membership to Grace Lutheran. He was active in civic affairs and was a member of the Brandon creamery board. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, five daughters and one son. The surviving children are: Mrs. Conrad (Joyce) Botner of Garfield, Mrs. Archie (Helen) Viering of Alexandria, Ralph Angen, Mrs. Floyd (Jean) Thompson, and the twins, Mrs. Myron (Karolyn) Ulsager and Mrs. Kenneth (Karen) Schjei, all of Brandon.
