OAKLEY JOHN PORTER SR., ENFIELD - Oakley John Porter Sr., 70, died Nov. 28, 1992, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born in Lowell, July 23, 1922, the son of George P. and Florence (Sibley) Porter. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of LaBelle-Perkins VFW Post No.1605 of Burlingtan. He is survived by his wife, Alice (McLaughlin) Porter; two sons, Oakley Porter Jr. of Oakfield and Dale Bruce Porter of Enfield; three daughters, Eyvonne Marie Stevens of New Mexico, Veronica Mae Handy of Enfield and Mary Jane Brockett of Clinton, Conn.; one brother, Hugh Porter of Patten; five sisters, Daphine Shirley of Harrisburg, Vt. , Elde Chubbuck of Rhode Island, Azuba Palmer and Jacquelyn Palmer, both of Patten, and Faye Wakefield of Lowell; seven grandsons, eight granddaughters, seven great-grandsons, and ane great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jessica. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Clay, Stevens & Clay Funeral Home, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Theodore Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Repose Cemetery, Burlington, at a later date.
