Vernie Ellen Norris, 73, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 12, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 15 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Haley's Grove Cemetery. Bro. Wayne Matthews officiated.
Mrs. Norris was born March 18, 1928, in Pickett County, TN, the daughter of Barlow and Allie Hall Carter.
She was a greenhouse worker, and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her sons, James Norris and Charles W. Norris, both of Crossville, and Jack Norris of Pikeville; daughters, Stella Janow, Virginia Norris, Oma Meadows, Katherine Dunlap and Michele Bartlett, all of Crossville; brother, Clyde Carter of Crossville; sisters, Christine Powers, Rosetta Adams, Hazel Clark and Pearl Wyatt, all of Crossville; 20 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barlow and Allie Carter; husband, John W. Norris Sr.; son, John W. Norris Jr.; brother, Zebedee Carter; sister, Ave Gladys Maynard; and grandchildren, Adam Joel Boles, Junior Lynn Norris and Jordan Matthew Bartlett....
