Born May 18, 1921, in Canton to Ottis A. and Lola M. Standard Lingenfelter, he married Ellen Beebe on May 23, 1939, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Dale (and Mary Ann) of East Peoria; three daughters, Carolyn Sue (and Richard) Shepherd, Leisel Lavery and Sarah Lingenfelter , all of East Peoria; one brother, Leonard (and June) of Bartonville; five sisters, Carol Gibson, Eva Hudson and Iona (and Jesse) Fowler, all of Peoria, Betty VanHouten of West Peoria and Mickey Williams of Washington; 16 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Hohimer in February 1996; one grandson; two brothers; and three sisters.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving with the Armed Guard in the Atlantic and the Pacific.
He worked in supervision at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 40 years, retiring in August 1981.
He was past president of the Morton Riding Club.
He was a square dance caller for the Friendly Squares in Washington and the Pleasant Hill Twirlers in East Peoria.
He was a member of Father's Heart Congregation in Morton.
Burial will be in Mackinaw Township Cemetery in Mackinaw.
