Iona Marie Fowler, 80, of Peoria, Ill., died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.


She was born on Jan. 27, 1933, in Camargo, Okla. She was the daughter of Ottis A. and Lola (Standard) Lingenfelter. She married Jesse C. Fowler on Nov. 3, 1951, in Peoria. He survives.


She is also survived by two sons, Ron (Judy) Fowler of Peoria and Scott (Dianna) Fowler of Washington, Ill.; and one daughter, Vicki (Ward) Stein of Franklin, Tenn. Iona has one brother, Leonard (Lois) Lingenfelter of Monroe, Iowa; and two sisters, Carol Gibson of Peoria and Mickey Williams of Washington, Ill.


She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and five sisters.


Iona was active in bowling for 59 years, with many of those years spent bowling with her seven sisters. She was a secretary in two leagues for 49 years, ran the Peoria Sisters' Tournament for 25 years, held the position of director of the PWBA for three years and was recently inducted in to the Peoria Bowler's Hall of Fame. Iona was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan from the age of 13, when she started following the career of Stan Musial, up to the recent World Series games.


Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, Ill.
