Anna Marie Sophia Voltmer was the sister of Sigourney pioneer David Voltmer (1816-1866) and the daughter of Heinrich Wilhelm Voltmer (1771-1833) and Catharina Magdalena Rodewald (1778-1822). She was b. 11 Mar 1817, Rodewald, Prussia and d. 19 Mar 1903, Sigourney, Iowa. She m. Heinrich Diedrich Friedrich Karl Backhaus aka Charles Bakehouse 20 Dec 1846 in Sigourney. Charles was the son of Johann Diedrich Conrad Backhaus (1770-1846) and Ilsa Dorothea Elisabeth Dohrmann (1778-1838), b. 9 Oct 1813, Landesbergen, Prussia, d. 19 May 1888, Sigourney, Keokuk, Iowa. Charles immigrated to America with his brother, Diedrich (1816-1866) in 1842 aboard the Bark Johanna.
