Daughter of Fritz Humpke (Humpka) and Sophia Voltmer. Dora was age 3 when she emigrated with her parents and a half-brother Fred Magus from Germany to America.

Dora suffered a tragic death as a young girl. She was missing for 21 days, until her wolf-savaged bones were discovered. It is thought that she was either attacked by wolves, or had been struck by lightening and that her remains were left to the wolves. Her remains were buried on the Bakehouse Farm except for a wrist bone that her mother kept in remembrance/grief. Dora's wrist bone is reportedly buried with her mother in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney, Iowa.
