Final Rites Held In Bedford For Alva Wyckoff, 71
Funeral services for Joseph Alva Wyckoff, 71, of Bedford, Ia., held November 18 in the Bedford United Christian-Presbyterian Church, were officiated by Rev. Marcia Smith. Mr. Wyckoff died November 15, 1981 in Greater Community Hospital, Creston. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.
Joseph Alva Wyckoff, son of Louis Elmer and Mary Elsina [Rabourn] Wyckoff, was born in Bedford September 25, 1910. He lived in Bedford where he grew to maturity and attended the Christian Church and was graduated from Bedford High School in 1929.
On November 26, 1936 he was united in marriage to Doris David at Kansas City, Kans., and they lived in Bedford. To this union two children were born: David Lynn Wyckoff and Diane Elaine Hertzenberg.
He was employed by Cudahy Packing Co. in Bedford for 23 years and was custodian at Bedford High School for 14 years.
Mr. Wyckoff was a member of the Christian Church and later the United Christian-Presbyterian Church when these two churches merged.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Arthur [Elmer] and Glen [Drexel], and one sister, Rose [Alma].
Left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Doris; children; four sisters, [Esper] May Smith, Austin, Minn.; [Carrie] Fay Pullen, Henderson, Ia.; Bonnie [Vesper] Weil, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Nina [Estella] Gaule, Bedford; four brothers: Ross [Allen] and Leroy [Dallas] of Des Moines; Fred [Edward] of Red Oak; and Rex [Raymond] of Bedford; eight grandchildren: Lori Lynn, Mark and Scott Wyckoff; Kristen Ann and Lauren Michelle Hertzenberg; step grandchildren: Kara, Bill and Kirk Hertzenberg; a half-brother, [Moran] Eldon Wyckoff, of Liberty, Mo.

Mr. Wyckoff was a kind and considerate husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who loved him.
