NEW BETHLEHEM – Homer R. Edwards, 62, of Wood St., New Bethlehem, died at 5:30 a.m. yesterday (May 11, 1960) in Deshon Veterans Hospital, Butler. Mr. Edwards was born Oct. 30, 1897, at Schenley, a son of Albert R. and Jane B. (Lasher) Edwards. Mr. Edwards was owner of Edwards Plumbing and heating in New Bethlehem. He established his business there in 1948. He was a veteran of World War I, having served a number of months in France. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 68 of Punxsutawney and the New Bethlehem Moose. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie (Jewart) Edwards; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Emmagean) Boarts, Avonmore RD 1; one son, Robert of New Bethlehem; 9 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Paul Hetrick of Butler. Friends will be received at the Reitz funeral home, New Bethlehem, this evening, Friday afternoon and evening. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Thomas Johnson, pastor of the First Methodist church, New Bethlehem, officiating. Burial will be made in the Smicksburg cemetery.
