RITES MONDAY
Jan. 30, 1959
RESIDENT OF NEAR RENSSELAER DIES AT LOCAL HOSPITAL, FRIDAY MORNING:
James Elliott of RFD 5, Rensselaer, died Friday at 11 a.m. in Jasper County Hospital, where he had been a patient one day. He had been ill six months but died unexpectedly of a heart attack.
Mr. Elliott was born in Jasper County, March 29, 1875, a son of Samuel Elliott and Sarah Elizabeth [or Emily] Cooper Elliott. He was married to Viola May Ott, who passed away January 31, 1920. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
A retired farmer, Mr. Elliott had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Fairy Karch, in Gifford. Surviving with Mrs. Karch are two other daughters, Mrs. Lora Kerns of LaPorte and Mrs. Gladys Hershman of RFD 6 Rensselaer, seventeen grandchildren and thirty-eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three children who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held from the Querry Residence Home in Medaryville at 1 o'clock Monday with the Rev. C.L. Higgason of Rensselaer conducting the rites. Interment will be in Weston Cemetery, Rensselaer.
