Sarah Emily Cooper, daughter of Thomas B. Cooper and Tacy Simpson, first married Jackson Swisher who was a Civil War casualty in 1863. They had four children: Tacy Ann Swisher, Augusta M. Swisher, Warren D. Swisher and William Swisher. Sarah's second marriage was to Samuel Peter Elliott in 1868. They were the parents of Martha Isabelle Elliott, Emory Elliott, James Thomas Elliott and Asa Elliott.
