Mrs. Bessie Book
Mrs. Bessie Book, 91, of 708 N. Prairie died at Brokaw Extended Care Nursing Home at 2:40 p.m. Thursday.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Metzler Memorial Home, with the Rev. Earl Leffelman and the Rev. Vel L. Luse officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She was born in Little Sandusky, Ohio, July 6, 1878, a daughter of Jerry and Sophia Vrooman Swihart. She was married to Charles Book July 3, 1895, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. He died March 19, 1923.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fred J. Barrow, 1405 S. Madison, Normal; Mrs. Victor Seifert, Sycamore; a son, Adreon Book, Rock Island; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Two sons, six brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
She was a Methodist.
She was a matron at the Lucy Orme Morgan Home for 25 years and retired in 1953.
