Dwight Decker, 37, of Middle Point, principal of Van Del High School the past three years, died at 4 a.m. today at the Lima Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted a week ago. He had been suffering from a heart ailment for about a year.
Mr. Decker was a graduate of Rock Creek, Ind. High School. He received his bachelor of education degree at Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., received his master's degree at Purdue University and did graduate work at the University of Cincinnati.
He had taught for 13 and one-half years, including part-time at the Purdue University. Mr. Decker taught four years and served as superintendent for a year of Middle Point High School before consolidation with Ridge.
His survivors include his widow, Ruth, and three children, Wayne, Kathy and Junior, all at home.
Funeral arrangements, the Jahn Funeral Home of Bluffton, Ind., in charge, are incomplete.
