A Pioneer Dead Abraham Fugate of Kirkland Township Succumbed Last Night Lacked a Month of Being Eighty Years of Age--Long a Resident of County In the death of Abraham Fugate, which occurred Sunday night at 11 o'clock, Kirkland Township lost one of its most highly esteemedpioneer residents who have resided in this vicinity forty- nine years or more. His death occurred at the home of his son, D. F. Fugate, three miles south and a half mile east of Peterson after an extended illness from cancer of the stomach. Mr. Fugate was a native of Ohio, being a son of Peter Fugate. He was

born January 29, 1833, and was just exactly a month less than eighty years of age. His wife, Anna Mary Fugate, died several years and surviving are the two sons, P.E. and D. F. Fugate. Francis, Millie, Lilly, John and Cora are children, who have passed into the greatbeyond. He also leaves two sisters residing at Millersburg and Akron, Ohio. Mr. Fugate was one of the substantial farmers of the county, who endured the hardships of pioneer days, but rose above them and his works in the behalf of the community will be a lasting memorial to him. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning, December 31, leaving the home at 9:30 o'clock for the Pleasant Dale church, where the Rev. Dan Byerly will conduct the services.
