Mary Belle, unlike most women of her era, was literate, and wrote and saved many letters written by her and her relatives from about 1825 thru 1898. I have copies of many of the letters and the Ambrotypes that she saved.

After her husband died in 1878 she lived in various places, but in 1900 was living in the Household of her son John Jordan in Denton County,Tx. By 1910 she was living in the household of her son, Daniel Berry Jordan (1858-1936) in Harmon County, Ok.

The image of Mary Belle Campbell Jordan that is accompanying the Findagrave entry was made from an an old Ambrotype, which was made in 1859 in Paulding County, Ga. I have the original Ambrotypes of both her and her husband, Joshua R Jordan. The images were taken to a business that does work on old Ambrotypes, and they made the copies that include the typing of dates and names under the images, which was done by myself ( Ron Holley). I Also have an Ambrotype that may be of her brother, 1st Lt. Alexander Hamilton Campbell (1830-1862) ,or it may be the image of James Benajah Houston Jordan ( 1826-?), brother of Joshua R Jordan (1819-1878). Joshua and Mary Belle were my great-great grandparents.
