Helen Roles was born October 30, 1917 in Beckham County, Oklahoma to Cecil and Bessie DeFries. On October 26, 1935 she married H.A. "Punch" Roles. He preceded her in death in 1981. She loved to sew for her granddaughters. She was a great cook. She was most known for her hot rolls which she made for her family, friends and her church. Helen had been a resident of Sunray since 1949 before moving to Amarillo 6 years ago. She was a long time member of Sunray Baptist Church and served on the kitchen committee.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother Bud DeFries and sister Laverne East.
Survivors include; her son, Ronnie Roles of Dumas; grandchildren: Misty Taylor and Mandy Cartrite and husband Kerry all of Amarillo; great-grandchildren: Ashley Arnett, Tristan Bolen and husband Daniel; Macey Cartrite all of Amarillo, Landon Cartrite of Sunray, Heather Cartrite of McKinney, Lacey Cartrite of Denver, Colo; and 3 great-great-granddaughters.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dan Merki and all of the many people who loved and cared for her over the years.
The family suggests memorials be to Sunray Baptist Church, PO Box 550 Sunray, Texas 79048 or to a favorite charity.
