SANFORD - LaVern East, 80, died Wednesday, April 26, in Sanford.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Sanford with Rev. Terry Corbett, pastor of Borger Christian Center, officiating. Interment will be in "Eastlawn Garden" at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mrs. East was born in Erick, Okla., and had lived in Borger since 1943. She married W.A. "Bill" East in 1940 in Brinkman, Okla.

She was a homemaker and sold tropic fish for many years. She was a Baptist.

Mrs. East was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, W.C. "Bud" Defries and great-grandaughter [sic], Sonya Leonard.

Survivors include a son, Billie East of Fritch; one daughter, Mary Leonard of Sanford; two sisters, Helen Boles of Sunray and Verna Lee of Harrah, Okla.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to BSA Hospice, Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79176. The family will be staying at 201 Cromwell in Sanford.

Casket bearers will be Mike Dotson, Joe Engelbrecht, Josh Raymond, Wayne Davis, Wayne Karns and Chip Watson.
