Neeley Hicks, 65, lifelong resident of Comanche County, passed away in a Temple Hospital Tuesday May 3, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held for Mr. Hicks were held Thursday afternoon May 5, at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Naylor of Camay, former pastor of the Comanche East Side Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.Pallbearers were Wayne Wilhelm, Kenneth Tidmore, Grady Ripley, Jim Carpenter, Joy Lee Williams, and John Yates, all World War II Veterans. Mr. Hicks was the son of the late John William and Ollie Jane Hicks. He was a veteran of World War I , and served overseas in France for more than a year. He had resided in Comanche with his sister, Mrs. Ada Spivey for the past eight years. Other survivors are two brothers, Lonnie and Curby Hicks both of Comanche; and two other sisters Mrs. Evie Fannin of Rule and Mrs. Daisy Hughes of Abilene.
