Dies Here After
Long Illness
Funeral services were held by the Rev. J. D. Smoot Sunday afternoon, July 5, at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel for John W. Hicks who passed away at his home in Comanche July 4th after a long illness. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.
John W. Hicks was born in Georgia April 20, 1860 being the son of the late J. J. Hicks and Sarah Ann Redwine Hicks. He came to Comanche 65 years ago. He married Miss Ollie Carter and to them were born twelve children, five of whom preceeded in death.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Curby, Lonnie and Neely Hicks all of Comanche. Four daughters, Mrs. Jack Cuthbertson and Mrs. Roy Spivey both of Comanche, Mrs. Cecil Fannin of Rule and Mrs. Ernest Hughes of O'Brien. He is also survived by three brothers, Henry, Lee and Mat Hicks.
