Cpl. Jeske was serving in Frances with the First Army and was taken prisoner after the Luxembourg campaign, 18 December 1943.
He was drafted 13 March 1942 at Campt Wolters, Texas.. He had been stationed at various camps in the United States before going overseas in December 1943.
His family received word from him twice since he was taken a prisoner, one letter written 10 January 1945 and the other written 2 February 1945, both letters were received in April.
His father, B.R. Jeske, died 18 May 1942.
Memorial services were held at the St. Luke's Lutheran church with Rev. P.J. Klenk officiating.
