Dad was a descendent of Mormon pioneers and grew up in Utah. After joining the Navy during WWII he met mom during a stop in Seattle for repair of his ship, the USS So. Dakota. He introduced mom to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she was baptized while he was at sea. When he was discharged they married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 2, 1945. After a short time in Utah they moved to Tacoma but would settle in Renton, Washington a suburb of Seattle. Here they raised 5 children.

Dad had many loves besides his family. He loved fishing and we made many camping/boating trips. With 3 sons he spent many years in scouting as well. He loved working with his hands and made all kinds of creations - mostly from wood. He loved model trains and tinkered with them right up to the end.

Dad was a truck driver - oil in winter, asphalt in summer until a back injury would force him into "retirement". He even owned a gas station for a time. He developed parkinson's later in life and it would eventually take his life.

After 50 years in the same house they moved in 2006 to Brush Prairie, Washington into a mobile home next to their daughter Kolleen. Here they enjoyed watching some of their grand & great-grandchildren come and play in the yard.
