She was born May 11, 1918 in Caineville, Utah, to Aaron Elijah Holt and Pheby Ann Cook Holt. She married Gordon Baker on November 26, 1936 in Green River, Utah; later solemnized in the Manti Temple. He died October 14, 1965. She married Claude Savage on Nov. 5, 1966. He died April 5, 1991. Grandma Mary was a constant source of joy and inspiration to her ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She loved life and through her many cards and letters tried to ease the pain and suffering of others. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had worked faithfully in many callings during her lifetime. She especially loved being a Relief Society visiting teacher. She was a also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Her children are: Mona and Doug Peterson, Richfield, Utah; Marlene and Rod Savage, St. George, Utah; Gordon Sheldon and Pat Baker, Sioux City, Iowa.
Surviving brother and sisters are: Fon C. Holt, Renton, Washington; Melvina Wolf, Boise, Idaho; Zelpha Holdeman, Milton Freewater, Oregon. Her beloved husband; two daughters; parents; four brothers; and three sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Grandma Mary's 76th birthday, May 11, 1994 at 1:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 So. 100 West, Richfield, Utah. A viewing will be held Tuesday night, May 10, 1994 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and from 11:00 to 12:30 the morning of the funeral. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
