James Thomas Bevis Rites Held

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon in Cooper-Sorrells Chapel for John Thomas Bevis, 71, of 634 Hoke Smith Drive in Dallas. The Rev. Marvin Bledsoe and the Rev. Dale Swain were officiants and interment was in oakwood Cemetery.

Named pallbearers were Willie Bevis, Albert M. Carter, Raoy Carter, Lennie Carter, Ed Parsons and Bill Ahren.

Mr. Bevis, ill for the past three or four years died at 8:45 o'clock Saturday morning, November 18, 1972, in Oak Cliff Medical & Surgical Hospital in Dallas where he had been a patient for four days.

A native of Cherokee, Alabama, Mrs. Bevis was born November 6, 1901, the son of William H. Bevis and Mary Ella Reagen Bevis.

He married Grace Kirk at Rankin, Okla., February 2,, 1925.

He was a retired LTV employee and a member of the Oak Cliff United Methodist Church in Dallas.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Grace Bevis of Dallas; a brother, Oscar L. Bevis of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Albert Carter of Honey Grove and several nieces and nephews.
