From John Newman Barker's Journal, SLC FHL Film 1035722 #5: "We arrived in New Orleans on Sunday 6th June, left on Monday 7th. And on Sunday the 12 our son Alma died of inflammation of the bowels and canker. Arrived in St. Louis on Monday 13th. Left for Keokuk on Wednesday, arrived Thursday. I went and dug my child's grave and burried him myself; Mr. Johnson, the undertaker, registered him."
