John C Wallace was born in North East Georgia about 1815. There is now conclusive DNA evidence that John is the son of Thomas and Mary Wallace, who moved from York County, SC to Elbert County, GA shortly before 1815. Thomas Wallace died in Clarke County, GA on Jun 19, 1860 at the age of ninety.

John Wallace married Christian (Christine) Manley around 1836 and they lived in Canon, Ga near the Hart and Franklin County lines. John and Christine Wallace had seven children before Christine passed away around 1858.

When the Civil War began in 1861, John Wallace was 48 years old, single and had several young children, therefore he did not enlist in the CSA Army. John`s oldest son, Francis Marion Wallace (age 23) enlisted in 1861 as well as two of his son-in-laws, James Calhoun Whitlow and Asa Marion Wooten. John Wallace was left to take care of his son`s family as well as his oldest daughter`s families during the Civil War. John Wallace did join the Hart County, GA Militia in 1864 when he was 51.

John married during the Civil War to Louvinda Pearman Mitchell late in 1864. Louvinda had lost her first husband, William Calhoun Mitchell, in the Civil War. Louvinda had five children with William Mitchell. John and Louvinda had three children together, Francis Louvinda Wallace, John Weldon Wallace and Millard Morris Wallace. Their first child, Francis (Fannie) Wallace was born on Sept 28, 1865 which was five months after Confederate Army General, Robert E Lee, surrendered on the morning of April 5, 1865.

On Sept 27, 1865, The day before his daughter, Francis Wallis was born, John declared his Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution of the United States. He gave that oath in Franklin County, Ga. The Index Card recording that information lists John Wallace`s personal appearance as dark hair, blue eyes, 5 Ft 10 in tall, Aged 52 years and a Farmer by trade.

At one time, John Wallace owned 38 acres of land on Rice Creek in Canon, Franklin County, Ga. This land was given to him, by his father-in-law, Moses Manley. At the time of John`s death in 1885, John owned 200 Acres of land on Bear Creek in Franklin County, GA. The land is mentioned in his 1883 will and was left to his wife and children. John Wallace's will was probated April 6th, 1885. In his will, John Wallace confesses his Christian Faith of forty years.

Burial Information for John Wallace is unknown. He was likely buried beside his wife, Christine Manley Wallace who died about 1858. There is no record of a gravestone for John and Christine Wallace in Franklin or Hart County, GA. They were likely buried on John Wallace's farm on Bear Creek in Franklin County, GA.

John's second wife, Louvinda Wallace, and her children, moved to Shelby County, TX in 1896. Louvinda is buried in Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Shelby County, TX having lived there 25 years.

John C Wallace's full name is likely John Clarence Wallace. John C Wallace has a grandson named John Clarence Wallace (son of John Weldon Wallace) and I believe he was given his grandfather's full name.
