Mary "Molly" Catherine Wallace was born Sept 16, 1852 in Bowersville in Hart County, Ga (Near Franklin County Line) to John Wallace and Christine Manley Wallace. Mary`s mother died before she was 5 years old. Molly was 10 years old when the Civil War began. Her father, John Wallace remarried Louvinda Pearman Mitchell around 1863 during the Civil War, when Molly was around 11 years old. Louvinda had recently lost her husband in the Civil War and had 5 children of her own. Louvinda`s oldest child was a daughter, Mary Elmina Mitchell, who was the same age as Molly, (born Sept 30, 1852).

Molly married John Thomas Dove on Aug 31, 1873 in Franklin County, Ga when she was twenty years old. She instantly became a mother to John Thomas Dove`s two children, Benjamin (age 6) and Cora Mae (age 3). Molly no doubt could sympathize with those children, having lost her own mother at age 5 and having to adjust to a step mother at age 11. Molly and John Thomas Dove had seven children together.

Both Molly and her husband, John Thomas Dove had to endure the struggles brought on by the Civil War, but unfortunately the suffering did not end there. In the spring of 1892 they lost two of their young children.
Doctor P Dove died May 30th, 1892 when he was 7 years old and L. C. Dove died May 15th, 1892 when she was just 1 1/2 years old.

The last several years of her life, Mary C Dove lived with her daughter, Lizzie Dove Alewine in Abbeville County, SC. She died at the age of 72 and is buried in Latimer Cemetery in Calhoun Falls, SC. Her daughter Lizzie Dove Alewine is buried next to her. Most of Molly`s family is buried in Franklin County, GA. Three of her sisters are buried in Double Branches Church Cemetery as is her oldest son, John York Dove and his family.
