Enlisted Sept 13, 1862 in the CSA Army, Georgia Regiment, 24th Infantry, Company B. Marion Francis Wallace enlisted in Hart County, Ga with his brother-in-law, Asa Marion Wooten who married Sarah A E Wallace.

Marion Wallace's first wife was Cornelia Caroline Hughes who is believed to be buried in Wilkes County, GA and his second wife was Margaret Chastain. (Chastain was originally spelled Chasteen).

Francis Marion Wallace was named in honor of General Francis Marion, whose battle techniques during the Revolutionary War earned him the nickname, The Swamp Fox.
Mel Gibson's movie, The Patriot, was based in part on the life of Francis Marion. Francis Marion Wallace followed his father's example when he named one of his sons, General Lee Wallace, after the Supreme Commander of the CSA army, General Robert E Lee.
