"The LaFayette Sun" - December 17, 1969:

Alfred Tennyson (Fred) Davis, Sr., of Route 2, passed away Wednesday, December 10, at 8:30 a.m. at Chambers County Hospital following a long illness.
A well known farmer, Mr. Davis was born in Chambers County on December 14, 1892. He was a member of East Liberty Baptist Association Board of Directors.
Funeral services will be held at Rock Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, on Thursday, December 11 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Noel and Rev. B. B. McGinty officiating. Interment will be in Rock Springs Cemetery with Johnson & Sanders in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Lee Farr Davis of LaFayette Route 2; two daughters, Mrs. Luther S. Turner, West Point, GA, and Mrs. Harold Shirley, Winston-Salem, NC; a son, Alfred Tennyson Davis, Jr., Sanford, FL; a brother, E. K. Davis, LaFayette Route 2; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were deacons of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

(Rock Springs) - After working over the church cotton patch the workers enjoyed an ice cream party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Davis. The pastor, Rev. B. B. McGinty, and wife, of Riverview, met with them for the party.
